Acting Up Studios
Young Adults Performance Intensive: Ages 12-18
Young Adults Performance Intensive: Ages 12-18
- Ages 13-18: A week long intensive that focused on emotional connection, imagination, sense work, and improvisation to create characters.
Yocum Institute for Arts Education
Acting Studio: Ages 6-16
- Ages 12-16: Covered various aspects of the actor's life including: vocabulary, rehearsal process, auditions, cold readings, creating characters, analyzing scripts, and maintaining characters throughout a production run.
- Ages 6-10: Using different games and exercises we discover how to tell stories, create characters, and learn basics for theatrical acting.
- Ages 11-16: This class dives into some basic theories of acting, using different exercises, to become comfortable with their individual creativity and finding honesty onstage.
- Ages 9-11: I taught children between the ages of 9-11 basic performance skills for acting in a five week, rehearsal-like, atmosphere. We went through the process of selecting audition monologues to performing in front of an audience.
- Ages 12-16: Using a condensed, 5 week, rehearsal process I taught students; basic scene analysis, character development, and performance technique; leading to a theatrical performance featuring scenes and monologues from the show, "Makin' It"
- Ages 9-14: This class focused on finding a process for the individual creative spirit. Each student was tasked to write and perform two original, contrasting monologues. The class utilized many games and exercises rooted in; Spolin, Chekhov, and improv, to awaken a vibrant creative spirit.
- Outreach Teaching Artist: As an outreach teaching artist, I instructed the Reading Middle School Acting Club. I taught students, of all theatrical backgrounds, different: exercises, games, and techniques; helping them prepare for future auditions and performances of all sorts, while creating an ensemble atmosphere. We explored fears and anxieties of the stage and how to overcome these pressures.
Primary Stages Summer Camp
Broadway Jr. Camp: Ages 6-16
Production Stage Manager/Acting Coach: I worked as the Production Stage Manager and Acting Coach for Primary Stages production of "Peter Pan, Jr." at the Miller Center. Teaching young students how to work backstage, acting/character choices, and how to work in the theatre.
S.T.A.R.S Camp
Theatre Camp Councilor: Ages 5-11
Camp Councilor: Through the Shawnee Playhouse, I was a camp councilor for a wide age range of students, teaching students how to make character choices, take risks, and learn stage presence. I also assisted in the original production that was created by the students, helping young actors: learn lines, sustain choices, and remember dances & blocking.
